A brief introduction.
My name is Dr Pavan Soni. I am from the beautiful city of Toronto, Ontario … Richmond Hill to be specific. I am an orthopaedic surgeon practicing in India. I completed my residency Oct/2020. I landed my first job ever as a fellow resident to Dr Tushar Agarwal, a peadiatric orthopaedic surgeon who is the Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon at Aastha Hospital, Kandivali West, Mumbai. I was in Mumbai for 2 years and worked under the guidance of Dr Tushar.
In January 2023, I moved to Nashik city and got selected in a the prestigious MUHS Hand Fellowship at Vedant Hospital under Dr Rajendra Nehete (MCh Plastic Surgeon) who was the president of the Indian Society of Surgery of Hand (ISSH) 2023-2024. I learned from and assisted in a wide variety of cases with Dr Nehete. In addition to hand and upper limb surgery, I gained an interest in microvascular surgery (which I previously had no exposure to; being from an orthopaedic background).
A surgeon’s record keeping habits are very important. I plan on using this blog to keep notes on the interesting cases I come across, for introspection on what I learned from each case and perhaps what more could I have done. In a way, this will also help me revise my theory and practical knowledge.
For anyone reading this, I hope you learn something from this, or just enjoy reading this logbook. I am always open for constructive criticism and discussions, anything to make me a better surgeon so my patients will be happier.
